ABOUT

Your Body Control Pilates Instructors

I started my home-based practice in 2016, after having taught overseas and at various studios around Cape Town for 10 years. My love and fascination in the human anatomy and movement stems from my dance background.

Trained in the Body control Pilates method.

Work with all ages, pre/post natal, rehabilitation from an injury or surgery, and with back pain. I have a particular interest in scoliosis, stroke rehabilitation and Parkinson’s.

WHY PILATES ?

Understanding the differences between yoga and Pilates

PILATES

Pilates is more focused on strength and stability and uses mindfulness to connect with the inner workings of the body. Pilates roots are in healing and rehabilitation.

YOGA

Yoga’s roots are in its spiritual practice and uses the body to connect with the mind and inner self. Yoga generally focuses more on flexibility and stability.

EQUIPMENT

The Reformer

The Reformer is a Spring-loaded apparatus. Designed to add different levels of resistance to challenge stability, increase strength and flexibility, and correct postural imbalances.

The Oov

A three dimensionally unstable tool used to challenge your body to find new strategies to control your movements. Lengthens and supports the spine. Designed by Australian neurologist and osteopath Daniel Vladetta.

Balls

We use ova, bosu, stability and medicine balls to either support or challenge the body in different ways. Bosu and stability balls can also add an element of cardio to your Pilates. Lots of fun!

Accessories

We have many small accessories in the studio such as therabands, magic circles and light weights for resistance work. Resistance work is particularly important for maintaining good bone density.

What we offer

All sessions are 55 minutes long.

Gift vouchers are available for purchase.

All new clients are required to have an initial private introductory session to assess their background, history of injuries, health, illnesses, operations. We recommend 5 privates before moving to a trio matwork class if you are new to Pilates.

If you’ve had any surgery in the last year that may affect your ability to exercise we may require a letter from your doctor or physiotherapist clearing you to do Pilates.

One-on-one sessions in the comfort of your home

Matwork using small apparatus, Oovs, balls, bands, rollers and light weights.

Two clients or a couple sharing in the comfort of your home.
